Major tools for indie labels

With over 140,000 songs uploaded to music streaming services daily, listeners are flooded with amateur and hobbyist content. Over 9 in 10 artists never get more than 1000 monthly listeners—that’s over 8 million artists virtually unheard. And with AI-generated music, it’s getting worse. Artists cannot do the work themselves to break through. Simply put, an artist needs a record label to succeed.

Professional labels provide artist development, insights, marketing and promotion to help artists gain traction. However, a lack of trust, inadequate services and a host of administrative details like accounting, legal, contracts, reporting and so on, seriously hamper indie labels’ ability to compete and grow. Label services are oriented towards either individual consumer artists or massive label enterprises. Where’s a small label to go?

A few years back, trying to get his own label off the ground, our founder, Nome Norman, felt those very pains. So, he set out to do something about it. He started Labelcaster to give Indie labels the tools and support major labels have, so, in Nome’s words, “they can punch above their weight” and build their music businesses successfully.

A small startup based in Stockholm, Sweden, Labelcaster has built a trustworthy and transparent platform for independent labels—from contracts and distribution to reporting and marketing services with concierge-level care. Every day, we take on the time-sucking, soul-crushing details of label distribution so labels worldwide can focus on growth and thrive.

As we passed the 1,000-label mark, we wanted to help our labels discover new talent and help unsigned artists find the right label match for their growth. Launched in 2026, Labelcaster Match is a subscription service that enables vetted artists to submit demos to our labels to get signed.
